About Lake Monroe


The largest lake in Indiana boasting 10,750 acres of water and 23,952 acres total with surrounding land and trails. Monroe is a man-made reservoir that was authorized under the Flood Control Act of 1938. Construction on the dam began in 1960 and was completed and operational in February 1966. Whether you enjoy sailing, boating, fishing, hiking, or camping, Lake Monroe has something for everyone!
